Latimer AC111 FlapSince the beginning of 2008, Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge has had the opportunity to participate in the development of Latimer High Adventure Reservation through a program we call ArrowCorps¹¹¹. In our first year, we accomplished a great deal. We built almost a half-mile of trail through rough terrain and opened a pre-existing trail that was overgrown. This year we look to take on much more.  We are getting some much needed equipment to help the trail building process.

What is Latimer?

The Latimer High Adventure Reservation is an area of land purchased by the Middle Tennessee Council to develop into a scout base, thanks to the generosity of Bill and Carol Latimer.  The 1600 acres lie on the Cumberland Plateau within hiking distance of Fall Creek Falls and the Bridgestone-Firestone Wilderness Area. It lies on a beautiful piece of land that allows the individual to see the beauty that is the Cumberland Plateau.

ArrowCorps¹¹¹

ArrowCorps¹¹¹ has become a very popular program. Nearly every weekend since its inception, Arrowmen have made the journey to Latimer to build trails and perform service.  Crews are still needed.  The lodge will once again offer a special Latimer service flap to Arrowmen who perform at least 12 hours of ArrowCorps¹¹¹ service this year. Best of all, ArrowCorps¹¹¹ is a really great way to spend a weekend in fellowship and service. Each chapter is encouraged to reserve a weekend and send a crew to Latimer.  Contact your Chapter Chief to find out when you can go.  More information will be avalable at lodge events throughout the year or by contacting the ArrowCorps¹¹¹ chairman at ArrowCorps¹¹¹ contact page

What does this mean to me?

You have an opportunity to go out and build a camp from the ground up, literally. There are only three buildings on the property and no trails have been built. It is the lodge’s job now to go out and build the trails that future generations of scouts will walk, and maybe, even your own sons will walk these paths. Many youth have already promised to lead a crew up to Latimer for weekend trips to help develop Latimer into the Philmont of the East.

How do I sign up?

You sign up by finding a crew leader near you.  Check with your chapter chief to see if your chapter has a weekend scheduled.  If not - you can possibly organize one yourself.  You can join with another group.  Contact the ArrowCorps111 chairman and adviser to see if there is a crew heading up to Latimer on your next free weekend.

This is all fine and good, but why should I join? What’s the catch?

This is the best part, there is no catch! The only fee involved will be to cover gas and food for the weekend, and that is determined by the crew leader. And you should want to go for the sake of going and starting a camp that no one else has even seen before. But, for those of you who need materialistic needs, the lodge will be awarding a one-of-a-kind lodge flap for those people who participate in ArrowCorps111.
