Adviser's Corner Summer 2009 PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to Boxwell! Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge is very proud to help play a major role in making summer camp a magical experience for our youth. Many of you have volunteered to help us out here at Boxwell, at Latimer High Adventure Reservation, or at other Middle Tennessee Council and district events to help bring the program alive. Thank you for what you have done in the past and will continue to do in the future.

Nearly every day on my way to work, I have the opportunity to walk by the Nashville Veterans Administration Hospital on the Vanderbilt University campus. I am often moved by the sight veterans, many who have made great personal sacrifices in the service of our country. I’m privileged to watch those veterans being looked after by people who volunteer their time andenergy to help those heroes receive the care they need. One sign that I often see on a transportation van around campus is "Volunteers, first to lend a helping hand. Last to turn away."

We are the Brotherhood of Cheerful service; this means that the Order is made up of volunteers. So as we gather here in a time of brotherhood, take the opportunity to meet others and share in that brotherhood. I challenge you to take a look at yourself and recommit yourself as a Volunteer, always ready to lend an unflinching hand to your fellow Arrowman, Scout, or anyone in need.

Yours in Service
Ian Romaine
